Mary J. Blige Grabs a Handful of Hip-Hop for Her 'Strength of a Woman' Album

She even snatched up one of your favorite Migos.

The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman is less than a month away, and following her latest divorce controversies, fans are excited to hear what she will make of it in another era of hip-hop, R&B and soul music.

Now that she’s released the tracklist for her 13th studio LP, which she has already designated one of her most powerful projects, we now know what to expect from at least one of those genres.

Revealed via Instagram, Mary has 14 tracks, with hip-hop sprinkled on about four of them. Kanye West will assist the album’s first track, “Love Yourself,” followed by the triple-threat feature of Quavo, DJ Khaled and fellow hip-hop legend Missy Elliott on the fifth track titled “Glow Up.” KAYTRANADA also stops in toward the end of the album for “Telling the Truth.”

The first hint at Mary’s gracious amount of hip-hop for the album was dropped during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where she revealed that she and Kanye’s first collaboration would be one for the books. She excitedly described the instrumentals for the then-unnamed track and dubbed it one that she felt Ye did a serious number on.

“The flavor of the track starts off with piano keys. It’s very dramatic in the beginning and it goes into a loud horn. That is, like an old sample horn," she told THR. "And then this gigantic beat kicks in and I sing. He rhymes after my two verses. It's incredible. He kills it. I wish I could give you the title, you’d flip but I just can’t do it yet."

If this doesn’t have fans biting their nails for April 28, we’re not sure what will.
