One in a Million: Beyoncé, Missy Elliott and More Show Love to Aaliyah
Now that we are in the age where social media reigns supreme, each year on August 25, our timelines are flooded with dedications to someone that every music fan can appreciate: the angel of R&B, Aaliyah.
The late legendary singer passed away 15 years ago to the date, with countless recording artists of today taking a moment to show love and help preserve her incredible legacy.
Among those paying tribute, Beyoncé shared the ultimate throwback, remembering the singer by posting a video of the two of them from 16 years ago. Back in 2000 when Destiny’s Child was on the come up, Bey was recruited to interview celebrities on the red carpet and as a result, the clip truly is a priceless gem from the archives.
“What’s up, this is Beyoncé on the red carpet with one of the hottest female artists out there,” the singer excitedly tells the camera. The two then dive right into it, with Aaliyah saying she’s most excited to see D’Angelo perform. The clip is absolutely adorable with both singers bonding over how sexy they find D’Angelo. (Word.)
Nas, Missy Elliott, Timbaland and dozens of other musicians also took to social media to post throwback photos and messages promising that they are doing their part to keep her memory alive and well.
